UPS Backup Power Supply Knowledge Popularization

In modern society, electricity is as essential as air. A sudden power outage can mean the loss of unsaved files for individuals, and for businesses, it can lead to data corruption, production interruptions, and even huge losses. This is where a silent guardian of power comes in – the UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply).

1. What is a UPS?

A UPS is an Uninterruptible Power System that continuously provides stable and clean power when the mains power is abnormal. You can think of it as a "backup battery" + "voltage regulator" for electricity.

It primarily solves two major problems:

Sudden power outage: Provides backup power, giving you time to save your work, shut down normally, or start a backup generator.

Mains power pollution: Solves problems such as unstable voltage, surges, spikes, and frequency fluctuations, protecting sensitive equipment.

2. Core working principle: Dual protection

The UPS operates in a clear and reliable manner:

When the mains power is normal: The current first passes through the UPS for filtering and voltage regulation, removing impurities and fluctuations from the power grid to provide high-quality power to the equipment, while simultaneously charging and storing energy for the internal battery.

In case of mains power failure or interruption: The UPS automatically switches to battery power mode in a very short time (milliseconds), and converts the DC power of the battery into the AC power required by the equipment through the inverter to achieve uninterrupted power supply.
